Bluff Hill Mountain Bike Trail

From the signpost at Stirling Point there is access to the walking tracks around Bluff Hill. The coastal tracks provide glorious views over the ocean, and in the winter you may just be lucky enough to spot a rare Southern Right Whale (Tohorā). The tracks up Bluff Hill emerge at a viewing platform on the summit that provides inspiring views and photo opportunities of Foveaux Strait, Stewart Island, Ruapuke Island, Dog Island, and much more. For thrill-seekers, the Motopohue Mountain Bike Trail on Bluff Hill is an exciting adventure.

The Greenpoint Domain, just out of Bluff, offers a leisurely and accessible walking track and boardwalk that follows the shoreline to Greenpoint, providing panoramic views across Bluff Harbour. At the Greenpoint picnic area, a viewing platform overlooks a ship graveyard and identifies some of Bluff Harbour’s historic landmarks.

On the way to Bluff, take a short detour and visit Omaui Beach. The drive to the beach is through scenic bush - particularly spectacular in the summertime when rata and clematis flowers are in bloom. Picnic spots, beach walks and sea views abound.
